This Summer season Pickie Fun Park is hosting a ‘Design a Swan competition’ in aid of Children’s Hospice Northern Ireland.
The competition is open to all P7 pupils in the Ards & North Down Area and one lucky artist will be picked to get their winning design printed onto a Pedalo Swan for the duration of the summer.
The winning design will then be unveiled at Pickie Fun Park on Friday 7th July by the Mayor of Ards & North Down. The winner will also receive a yearlong Pickie Pass which will entitle them to unlimited attractions every time they visit the park.
Proceeds from the swan will then be donated to the NI Children's Hospice and presented to a charity representative at Pickie's End of Summer Party on Saturday 26th August. A participant’s plaque will also be presented and placed in the Pickie Café with all participating school’s logos and a bit about the charity initiative.
Keep your eyes peeled on our Facebook page to check when Kalpa Hallsworth will next be visiting the park to provide henna!
A bit about henna:
Henna is a dye prepared from the plant Lawsonia inermis, also known as hina, the henna tree, the mignonette tree, and the Egyptian privet.
The name henna also refers to the temporary body art (staining) based on those dyes. Henna has been used since antiquity to dye skin, hair and fingernails, as well as fabrics including silk, wool and leather.
The temporary body art lasts up to 1 week with white henna art lasting only a couple of days.
